About Us
We all have moments where we think: why do I keep doing this? Why does this relationship feel so hard? Why do I procrastinate?
Shaped by Psychology intends to help you answer these questions without using the "psychology jargon". We believe psychology should not remain confined to textbooks, lecture halls or clinical settings. It can help us understand the patterns behind how we think, learn, behave, communicate, make decisions and develop. But most importantly, it can help us realize our abilities, be aware of what influences us and equip us to do something that lead us to success.
Our work translates psychological concepts into accessible, practical and meaningful knowledge for everyday use. This space blends theories with everyday lived experience and combines African and Western perspectives and philosophies.
Our Purpose
To make psychological knowledge accessible, relevant and actionable, helping people better understand themselves, others and the world around them. Because when we understand what shapes us, we can become more intentional about how we learn, how we respond, how we relate and how we grow.

Our goal is to make psychological knowledge useful.
Our Approach
- Psychology-informed: Our content is grounded in psychological knowledge and informed by how people think, learn, develop and behave.
- Inclusive: People are shaped by different cultures, communities, environments, experiences and circumstances. We recognise that context matters.
- Practical: Knowledge is most powerful when it can be understood, applied and translated into meaningful action.
No person develops in isolation. Our understanding of human behaviour is shaped not only by psychology, but also by culture, family, education, community, environment and lived experience. This is why Shaped by Psychology embraces perspectives that allow psychological knowledge to connect with diverse human experiences, including African contexts and ways of knowing. We are interested in both what shapes us and how we, in turn, shape what comes next.
